Woah! What is up with the overwhelming trend to wear a corset as a top (with nothing else on top)....ick!

I don't remember seeing it in such *volume* though...maybe that's what struck me. I just don't think it looks finished enough to wear with everything else fancy. I wouldn't get all prettied up and then just wear bloomers or pettipants on my bottom half. :X

Although, I was never a fan of wearing a *bra* as a top, so maybe I'm just biased. ;)

Re: <-- catty fashion police
So, someone just brought this exchange to my attention and I was just trying to figure out when this scene ceased to be about open-mindedness and non-conformity?

You ladies are certainly entitled to your opinions, but is it really necessary to criticize me on a semi-public forum because I don't wear the proper uniform? Is this high school? I'm really hoping that you both are teenagers, otherwise it's just a bit sad.

I see outfits and styles all the time that I don't particularly care for, but I have never felt the need to be so rude as to ridicule anyone openly for it.
Don't you feel like a bit of a hypocrite in all of this considering how often goth kids are made fun of by mainstream people for the way they dress?

Being catty and cruel is nothing to be proud of. It's a shame if that's the only thing you and girlgoth can contribute to your scene.

Thank you for responding. As I said, you are most certainly entitled to your opinions and by no means do I think you should like something that just doesn't do it for you. That wasn't what bothered me.

I *did* take it personally based on the entire thread that seemed to stem from something that was about my choice in outfits (other comments on "corsets and jeans"...I doubt anyone else was wearing that ensemble, and the "someone trying to hard to be a sexay deth chik", in regards to the corset with no top.)I don't get up on stage because I'm trying to be something I'm not. I do it because its all I've ever done and ever wanted to do, and my style is very much an issue I generally don't fret over nor make top priority. I am a musician, not a fashion icon. I've never even attempted the traditional goth look, because that's not totally who I am. You can possibly see then why I took that personally, I think. I just felt under attack, and couldn't understand why it had even been made an issue. I don't need or want the world's approval; it just goes back to the old adage, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all (or at least say it in private...although that part is my personal modification).

Anyway, I've gone on enough. Again, I appreciate your response.

Fun! Nice shot of geekers with tongue, of course.
